[Preparation] Preparation for CIC B.Tech. Examination

Edit 1 – There will be a single application form for both the entrance and merit based registrations.

The paper will be conducted on 21.06.2018 (tentative date). So that leaves with you 30 days of preparation.

First, understand that the level of the paper has increased, and I hope the paper should be tougher this year. There is a significant difference between the difficulty of 2016 and 2017 paper.

The general trend of the paper is multiple choice 100 questions in 120 minutes, with +4 for single correct answer and -1 for wrong answer.

So, working on your time management is very crucial to be among the top 20 candidates.

Here’s the plan I followed –

  • Brush up your concepts using NCERT.
  • Solve MANY questions in the remaining days, either following your coaching booklets , or you can buy a practice booklet of JEE. Trust me, the level of 2017’s paper was higher than JEE Main, and the time limit is less, comparatively.
  • For a practice booklet, you can go for Disha’s Chapter wise DPP Sheets

If you have prepared well for JEE Main and BITSAT, prepare more for the reasoning part as it is the part you may have more problems in. Maths part should be relatively easy for you.

Aim for scoring 300+ in the previous papers. These marks are more than enough to get rank 1, or top 10.

All the best!

    1. Yes, they are separate. DU JAT exam is for colleges that offer Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) and Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis) programs and BA (Hons) Business Economics.

    1. You should ask this question on Quora, as my views will be biased towards CIC.
If placements and extra curricular activities is your concern, you should go for COMEDK top colleges.
CIC is a centre, and different from a regular engineering college.
I wanted to go for higher education, and live in Delhi; so opted for CIC and chose Management as the Elective.

      1. I also want to do MS but you also can understand that a 17 y/o can’t make so many plans for future. Q.1)Are there no placements at all?

Q.2) What type of clubs are there? I’m very much interested in Coding, Android Development and Filmmaking. Can we pursue all this? What about GSoC?

      2. Ans. 1 There is no placement cell, as CIC encourages entrepreneurship. However, students do get jobs applying off-campus, and pre placement offer after their eight semester internship.
Ans. 2 There is Hashinclude club for computer science, and Autonomy club for robotics. You’ll be glad to know that THREE students from first year got selected for GSoC out of the 40 students, with total 8 students. The coding culture is great here. And in the second semester, I did an Android Project for the Object Oriented Programming through Java subject.
For filmmaking, I don’t know about it, but you’ll be a part of the North Campus, University of Delhi and pursue it on your own, taking help from the seniors.

  1. There are some big companies like Tower Research Capital, DE Shaw, etc. have any student got a job in these companies or GAFA companies?

      1. According to the official website of University of Delhi, the date of commencement for online registration to Undergraduate Programmes is 15th May 2018.

  2. I have screwed up my jee mains.. i just got 84.. i even screwed up my BITSAT i got 180.. do u think I can make it in cic. Please help me with my preparation. I really wish to join cic.. please help me out..

    1. Hi Khushi, go through all the posts, for the preparation, and 21 days are still left for the preparation.
Do you think you can make it to CIC? I will say, do you believe that you can make it to CIC? Self believe is the key here. There should be no room for any doubt here. FORGET about the past, and just focus on these 21 days ahead.
